OTIS FCU's Remarkable Fundraising Efforts Boost Fight Against Hunger in Maine

OTIS Federal Credit Union, a community-focused financial institution, has demonstrated its unwavering commitment to ending hunger in Maine. Through a series of innovative fundraising initiatives, the credit union has raised an impressive ,925.25 to support local food pantries and combat food insecurity within its field of membership.

Empowering Communities, One Donation at a Time

Diverse Fundraising Initiatives Fuel the Fight

OTIS FCU's fundraising efforts for the Campaign for Ending Hunger were multifaceted and engaging. The credit union hosted a variety of events, including a Soup Day, Plant Sale, Yard Sale, and a Painting FUNdraiser, each designed to capture the interest and support of the local community. Additionally, the credit union offered unique giving opportunities, such as selling handmade crafts, afghans, candy, snacks, and cellphone card holders, as well as allowing community members to purchase special graduate messages on the credit union's road sign.

Surpassing Expectations: OTIS FCU's Top 25 Ranking

The credit union's remarkable fundraising efforts and the generous donations from the community resulted in OTIS FCU placing in the Top 25 Credit Unions in the state. This achievement not only showcases the credit union's dedication to the cause but also unlocked additional reward grants from the Maine Credit Union League, further boosting the total amount raised to ,925.25.

Distributing the Funds: Reaching Across the Community

The funds raised by OTIS FCU were recently distributed to 13 food pantries within the credit union's field of membership, which includes Franklin County and the towns of Canton, Fayette, Hartford, Leeds, Livermore, Livermore Falls, Mount Vernon, Readfield, Turner, Vienna, and Wayne. This ensures that the donations made by the credit union and its community directly benefit the local areas they serve.

Continuing the Legacy of Giving

OTIS FCU's commitment to the Campaign for Ending Hunger is part of a larger statewide effort. Last year, all of Maine's credit unions participated in the campaign, collectively raising a record-breaking ,221,868.94. Since the campaign's inception in 1990, credit unions across the state have raised and distributed over .5 million to help end hunger in Maine.

Opportunities to Contribute

OTIS FCU continues to provide opportunities for the community to support the Campaign for Ending Hunger. Individuals can donate in person at the credit union, where they can purchase handmade items, candy, and books, with all proceeds going towards the cause. Additionally, the credit union will be hosting a Yard Sale for Ending Hunger on August 24th, where all donations will be accepted and directed to local food pantries. For those unable to visit in person, donations can also be made online at campaignforendinghunger.org.

Gratitude and Continued Commitment

OTIS FCU extends its sincere gratitude to its employees, Board members, and the generous community members whose efforts have been instrumental in the continued success of the Campaign for Ending Hunger. The credit union's unwavering commitment to this cause is a testament to its dedication to supporting and empowering the communities it serves.
